For many of today's parents, life has become a juggling act of home, work, and family responsibilities. The key to making it all work is childcare you can depend on. Selecting your child's caregiver is one of the most important decisions you will make. At the Rocking Horse Day Care Centre & Kindergarten , you know what to expect; consistent, quality care. We are there when you can't be - everyday - so you have peace of mind, while your child plays and learns.

Our centre provides a safe, child-oriented environment that fosters fun and learning. We promote a fun-centered, developmental program for every age group and there is never a need to find a substitute provider.

Safety First

High Chairs All our staff are responsible for the security of your child. For your peace of mind and the safety of your child, children must be dropped off and picked up only by parents or a person you have specifically authorized. Your child will be released only to people you have designated. The Rocking Horse Day Care Centre & Kindergarten staff will require proof of identification from anyone you have authorized to pick up your child.

Our entrance is equipped with a key pad code entry system and only parents and staff are given the code for entry. The door is locked at all times and all visitors to the center must use the intercom system to speak with staff.

We are partners in caring for your child, and your child's health and safety are the number one responsibility of our staff.

Individual Attention and Care

Large Bright Classrooms Each child is an individual with a unique character, preferences, and needs. We, at the Rocking Horse Day Care Centre & Kindergarten, try to understand these needs by giving each child individual attention. We respect each child's individualism and communicate and care for each child accordingly. This gives each child confidence and self-esteem. Children need our continuous attention and encouragement to grow into capable and successful adults.

At the Rocking Horse Day Care Centre & Kindergarten, we do not have an "assembly line" approach to child care and respect children's needs for individual attention. The result is a wonderful environment where children are happy to be themselves and enter the next stages of life with self-confidence and determination.

Nutritious Home-made Meals

We recognize that by serving well-balanced, nutritious meals, we are helping your child grow up healthy. Therefore, all meals and snacks are prepared by our Cook on our site, from scratch, using fresh ingredients. We do not use processed or pre-prepared foods and believe in simple old-fashioned cooking from scratch to help form healthy habits and a strong immune system. Your child will receive a healthy morning snack, a hot lunch, and at least one afternoon snack each day. Our staff assists each child at mealtime to ensure that every child is well fed. We believe that a child can only learn well if he is fed well, with nutritious and balanced meals.

Our meal program is guided by three goals:

To provide wholesome and appetizing meals based on Canada's Food Guide;
To help children develop life-long, good eating habits, starting in infancy; and,
To make mealtime a learning, sharing, and pleasant experience for all .

Well-equipped Infant Room Menus are always posted in the corridor outside the kitchen so parents are always aware of what is served. Staff members keep parents informed of their child's eating habits, and will accommodate any individual special dietary needs or restrictions (such as allergies). We are a peanut free facility.

Infants are fed on individual schedules according to parental preferences. Once solids are introduced, infants are served healthy, nutritious foods, which are prepared especially for them by our Cook.

We serve our meals family style, with groups eating together. Mealtimes are happy times at the Rocking Horse Day Care Centre & Kindergarten!
