Childhood is a precious time. A time to be enjoyed and cherished and a time that sets the stage for the rest of life. Our experiences as children determine how we view ourselves and how we react to the world around us for years to come.

We at the Rocking Horse Day Care Centre & Kindergarten are committed to creating an environment where children flourish. The goal of our center is to nurture and educate the whole child. We believe that a rich program addresses all areas of self-development; emotional, social, physical, cognitive and creative. Each child is entitled to develop these selves confidently in an educational, safe and secure environment.

Our environment is designed to enhance our "learning-through-play" philosophy. Our large, bright rooms, all on one level, allow each group to pursue individual and small group activities. The classrooms are well organized, designed with plenty of open spaces and windows to let in natural light in. These rooms also provide a quality area for daily rest. Toys are age-appropriate at every level and are chosen for their educational value, quality and versatility. Bathrooms are scaled down in size so that water and toilet facilities are within easy reach of youngsters. The infant and toddler rooms feature separate, sanitary diaper changing areas.

We believe fresh air and exercise are essential to a child’s well being. So our center has an excellent outdoor playground with equipment that encourages active play and physical development. Our large playground is fenced for security, and organized to provide adequate supervision for every age group.

We are government licensed to accommodate children from the age of 6 months to 10 years. For your convenience, we are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and many extras are included in our rates, such as nutritious meals prepared on-site and special activities.

We offer special programs to fit your needs, such as a full-day Kindergarten program and Summer French Camp. We also offer vacation care during winter and spring breaks and other school holidays. We are affiliated with most local schools and buses run daily between the Rocking Horse and the schools in our area.

Our Experience

For over seventeen years, the Rocking Horse Day Care Centre & Kindergarten has supported parents by providing quality childcare and education. To be sure we continue to improve and grow, we regularly communicate with parents regarding our quality and performance. As a result we have continuously exceeded parents’ expectations in providing the highest level of individual care and education for their children in an appropriate and convenient facility.

Our Staff

When you are in the process of selecting a childcare centre, we understand that you have many questions about who will care for your child. It takes a special person to work with children. We select our staff based on their nurturing abilities, as well as their educational background and experience. References are checked carefully and each staff member undergoes an extensive screening process.

Our Supervisor and our Teachers have formal training in Early Childhood Education and all Assistant Teachers have experience in group learning environments. Our staff are also trained in first-aid and CPR.

We are partners in caring for your child and facilitating your child’s development in all areas of learning.
